Services provided may include insulation, caulking, weather-stripping, blower door testing, dryer venting, smoke alarms, appliance efficiency testing, and/or other services.
 
Home Weatherization

Assists income eligible households (renters and homeowners) in reducing heating costs. A computerized energy audit determines what type of home weatherization services are needed and any safety issues to be addressed. The household must also make a commitment to reducing their energy consumption. Services provided typically include attic and wall insulation, caulking, and glass replacement, and weather striping.
 
CDBG - Community Development Block Grant
Upgrades to the home may include furnace, roof, plumbing and electrical repairs to bring the house up to MSHDA Housing Quality Standards. This program requires a lien and/or mortgage to be placed on the property. The funds may be repaid be either a deferred grant, a loan, or some combination of both.
 
Home Purchase Rehabilitation (HPR) with Down Payment Assistance
Helps income eligible households with down payment and closing costs related to the purchase of a home, and also makes some funds available for moderate rehabilitation to the home. Individuals must complete a MSHDA certified home ownership counseling class.
 
PIP - Property Improvement Program
Allows homeowners to obtain a low cost loan from MSHDA to make improvements on their home. The interest rate is determined by annual household income. Homeowners can borrow up to 25,000 for 20 years.
