In-Home Services are available to residents of Dickinson and Iron Counties over age 60. All services are intended to support seniors in maintaining their independence and ensuring they continue to be a vital part of our community. Before In-Home Services can be provided, an assessment to determine the specific needs of the household must be completed by DICSA staff This assessment is a requirement of Office of Services to the Aging. In-Home Services are provided on a donation basis. Donations are filtered back into the program to extend services.

Services Available

Homemaking

Performance of routine household tasks to maintain an adequate living environment for older individuals with functional limitations. Homemaking does not include provision of chore or personal care tasks. Allowable homemaking tasks are limited to the following:

Home Care Assistance

Provision of in-home assistance with activities of daily living and routine household tasks to maintain an adequate living environment for older persons with functional limitations. Home care assistance does not include skilled nursing services.

Respite Care

Provision of companionship, supervision and/or assistance with activities of daily living for persons with mental or physical disabilities and frail elder persons in the absence of the primary care giver(s).

Home Injury Control

Providing adaptations to the home environment of an older adult in order to prevent or minimize the occurrence of injuries. Home injury control does not include any structural or restorative home repair, chore or homemaker activities.

Caregiver Respite Program

The Caregiver Respite Program is available to residents of Dickinson and Iron Counties who are 18 years of age and older. Participants must meet eligibility guidelines.

Caregiver Respite provides the same services as Respite Care, however care may be provided at the Family Ties Adult Center or in the home.

Before Caregiver Respite can be provided, an assessment must be completed by DICSA staff. This information helps determine the specific needs of the household.

Caregiver Respite is a mandatory cost-sharing program. The amount to be contributed by the participant is dependent upon household income and expenses.

National Family Caregiver Support Program

The National Family Caregiver Support Program targets residents of Dickinson and Iron Counties who are over age 60 and being cared for by someone under 60 such as a child or other family member. It is also available for residents who are grandparents over the age of 60 that are legally responsible for grandchildren under the age of 18. Participants must meet eligibility guidelines.

National Family Caregiver Support provides the same service as Respite Care, however care may be provided at the Family Ties Adult Center or in the home.

Before this service can be provided, an assessment must be completed by DICSA staff. This information helps determine the specific needs of the household.

The National Family Caregiver Support Program is a volunteer cost-sharing program. The amount to be contributed by the participant is dependent upon household income and expenses.
